Portugal Masters

Portugal Masters.

I’m staying with the Euro tour this week, and staying with Oliver Wilson.

A few errant drives cost him dear last week, but he still played well

and finished in the top twenty, for the third time in three weeks.

He finished 9th here last year and at the current prices is worth another chance.

Betting advice.

2 points each way  Oliver Wilson @80/1 with BetFred, ToteSportSport and PaddyPower.

This is my last post on Progambler for the time being.

I will be looking to set up a golf betting paysite in the new year.

Details to follow in December.

Good luck to all,

Mark.

Madrid Masters

Madrid  Masters.

Tiger Woods returns this week in the Frys.com championship

which may make things more interesting, but I can’t find anything to wet my appetite,

so I’ll look to the Euro tour this week and the Madrid Masters.

Luke Donald is best priced at 5/1 and even though he’s

a class above most of these at his best, he’s has a long, hard year and could easily

be past his top form. I prefer to look for someone coming into form at a decent price.

The man who fits the bill is Oliver Wilson.

He’s had a non eventful year but has finished in the top 20 in his last 2 outings.

He showed some good signs last week  and could be coming to  peak form now.

He’s available at 80/1 but is as low as 40/1 with Hills and is worth a bet

against this largely second rate opposition.

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Baddeley just missed out for us last week, but we got a place and some profit.

I’m going to leave the US golf this week as this tournament turns into a putting

competition and is consequently to difficult to predict.

On the Euro tour its the Alfred Dunhill Links championship, which is A Pro Am

event over three courses finishing off at Carnoustie on Sunday.

Not normally an event that fills me with enthusiasm, but I’ve found one that

may offer some value. Alexander Noren has won twice already this year,

played well in this last year and had a top ten finish last time out.

At 50/1 he’s worth an interest each way.

Betting Advice.

Alexander Noren 2 points each way @ 50/1 with Ladbrokes 1/4 odds first 6.

Tour Championship

Tour Championship.

So we come to the final week of the Play offs at the

Tour championship from the East Lake golf club in Atlanta.

Theres a $10 million bonus for the Fed Ex cup winner,

and hopefully a little for us.

With only 30 players this week I’m going to change my selection

method a little and go for a process of elimination.

Firstly I’m going to rule out all those who are losing form or played badly last week.

This rules out the likes of Day, Johnson, Mickleson Scot and others.

Next we rule out all those with no or poor course form.

This takes out Simpson, Reavie and a few more.

Take out Senden and a couple of others who I feel arn’t good enough to win,

and we are left with,Donald, Choi, Ogilvy and Rose.

I’m going to omit Donald due to his short price and lack of wins on the US tour,

and Ogilvy who putted exceptionally well last week, and will find it difficult to do

as well again this week. This leaves us with Choi and Rose.

I’m normally reluctant to back the previous weeks winner, but this week is different.

Both Villegas and Woods have won this in recent years after winning the previous week,

and Rose is capable of doing it this week, he played superb golf last week and will be full of confidence

and highly motivated to win.

Choi could be coming to form at the right time. He finished 10th last week without really getting the putter

working, and plays well here. If he can have a good week on the greens he can go close.

And finally to contradict myself a little, I’m going to give A. Baddeley another chance.

He had a good finish last week without putting particularly well. When he’s putting well, he’s very good

and at these prices he’s worth a punt.

Betting advice.

2 point win Justin Rose @20/1, widely available.

2 point win K J Choi 22/1, widely available.

BMW Championship

BMW Championship.

A reduced field this week, with the third event of the playoffs from The Cog Hill golf and country club,Lemont,  Illinois.

With only 70 players the bookies are taking no chances with the market leaders, but some value can be found

if we look at some of the less obvious players. First up is Hunter Mahan. He has been playing consistently all year

without winning. He looks like he could be reaching peak form at the right time with a good finish in the Deutsche Bank

and this course should suit his style of play. At 40/1 he’s worth a bet.

Next up is Ryan Moore. 10th last time out and third in this last year, he should go well at decent odds.

I’m going to take another chance on Aaron Baddeley. A winner earlier this year, his form has been inconsistent, but he has put up some good performances.

He hasn’t played in this event in the last two years, but prior to this he finished 10th and second. Worth a chance he’s on form this week at odds of 90/1.

Finally a real outsider. Scott Stallings won a few weeks ago and then played well at Bridgestone, and then understandably went off the boil a little. Last time out

he showed some signs of form and at 300 plus available on the exchanges, he’s worth a punt.

Betting Advice.

2 points each way H. Mahan @ 40/1 Widely available.

1 point win R. Moore @ 70 on BetFair and 1 point win top 5 with BetFred and StanJames @11/1

Alternatively 1 point each way @ 55/1 with BetFred and Victor Chandler.

1 point each way A Baddeley @ 90/1 with William Hill and bet 365.

1 point win S Stallings @ 320 bet fair and 1 point win top 5 @ 40/1 with StanJames and SkyBet.

Alternatively 1 point each way @ 200/1 widely available.

KLM Open

KLM Open.
No golf in the US this week, so we turn our attention to Europe and the KLM Open.

McIlroy, Kaymer and Westwood Tee up again this week and all have obvious chances,

but they all disappointed on Sunday, when having a good chance to win.

At around 8/1 each, there is no value to be had with these three, and I shall be looking elsewhere for a bit of value.

Peter Hanson has been playing well of late and shot an encouraging 64 on his final round last week.

Available at 33/1 week, he looks a solid selection each way and could be good enough to take the top prize.

Betting Advice.

deutschebank additional bet

Additional bet for the Deutschebank championship.

Jason Day is  available at 24 on the exchanges, and is now worth a bet.

He played well last week and played well in this last year.

An obvious selection that I have debated backing this week due to his short price,

but now at 24 I can’t resist.

Betting advice.

2 point win Jason Day  @24 with Betdaq and BetFair.

20/1 widely available with the bookies.

Deutsche Bank Championship

Deutsche Bank Championship.

The second leg of the Fed Ex cup play offs arrives this week, with the Deutsche Bank Championship

from the TPC Boston. Generally players who played well the previous week do well here.

Unfortunately last week turned into a three round putting competition, so we need to take that into account

when making our selections this week. Stricker,Donald, Day, Johnson, Watney and Kuchar  all have obvious chances,

but the bookies are giving nothing away (as usual), so I’m going to ignore the fancied players and look for some good value.

First up is Gary Woodland. He’s been playing well of late and finished 13th last week on a course which didn’t play to his strengths.

He hasn’t played this venue before, but the course should suit and he’s worth a punt at 50/1.

My other selection is Andres Romero. He has been playing well of late and played well from tee to green last week, but the putter wasn’t working.

He finished 11th here last year and just needs a good week on the greens to contend this week. Worth another chance at 100/1

Note. The tournament starts on Friday this week and ends Monday.

Betting Advice.

1 point each way Gary Woodland at 50/1 with, bet fred, Victor Chandlers and boyles sport.

1 point each way Andreas Romero at 100/1 with bet fred StanJames and PaddyPower.

both 1/4 the odds first 5.

The Barclays

The Barclays.

This week sees the start of the Fed Ex cup playoffs with The Barclays at the Plainfield country club, New Jersey.

The Playoffs are four tournaments over the next five weeks, culminating with The Tour Championship in Atlanta,

with a $10 million bonus for the winner. Hopefully we can end up a little better off too.

This week there is no course form to go on, so we’ll be looking for players in form or just coming into form, who are ready to peak at the right time.

I’ve picked out three likely contenders who can go well at big prices.

Ryan Palmer has been playing well of late. 19th in the PGA, 30th in the British open and 21st in the US open is good form.

He played well in this last year (although on a different course) and could be peaking at the right time.

Aaron Baddeley won earlier this year, was sixth in the players chamionship and 11th in the WGC.

He missed the cut in the PGA and the British open, but on this easier course could go well at a big price.

Andres Romero has been in good form with two top fives in the last three weeks and a reasonable effort in the PGA.

Worth a chance at these prices.

czech open

Czech open   final round.

This will come down to who has the most bottle on the back nine.

Gary Boyd is 2 off the lead, did well here last year,

and should show more bottle than these.
