Golf Betting Tips Mark Price

We have heard good things about Mark Price’s golf bets and he has decided to showcase his talents with us here at Progambler. His plan is to launch a piad service in January 2012 after proving his merits here. Until that point you can follow his selections for free with pen or paper or your own cash, as you see fit. Mark’s tips will follow in due course but, first up, here is a bit of an introduction.

About Mark Price’s Golf Selections

I started betting seriously on Golf eight years ago, after the 2003 Open, to be precise.
I’d been saving pound coins in an old whiskey bottle, and had accrued over £400.
and decided to put the lot on, on one big bet. Up to this point my usual stake would be about £40.
I’d had some luck putting small amounts on the golf when it was on the telly, and decided to put the lot
on Thomas Bjorn in the Open. £200 each way with the ToteSport, (1/4 the odds the first 6 at 100/1)
for no other reason than I had seen Bjorn beat Woods In Dubai. Bjorn had a 3 shot lead with 4 to play,
and I was planning what to spend my winnings on. Then he bogeyed 15, doubled bogeyed 16, bogeyed 17 and lost by one shot to the 750/1 shot, journeyman pro Ben Curtis. I was shell shocked but hooked, and had 5 grand in my pocket, to start as my bank for betting on the golf. This was going to be easy.
It wasn’t easy and I had a lot to learn, but I’ve learned to make it pay and have had some big wins,
excitement, heartache and sheer elation along the way. At the moment I have difficulty getting decent bets on with the bookies, and have to pay the dreaded Premium charge if I bet with BetFair. I use Betdaq. (who are good but have low liquidity), and get help from my friends when needed.
I’m going to start a golf tipping site beginning Jan 2012. Until then I am going to post my golf selections on line and anyone interested will be able to see what profit can be made and the type of bets advised. If you like what you see you can join the site proper next year. The chaps at progambler have kindly agreed to post my selections on their site and to proof the results.

BETTING ON GOLF.

As with all betting, the key to long term success betting on golf is getting VALUE.
The beauty of betting on golf is that there is plenty of value bets about.
The bookies (and exchanges) often misread the real chances of golfers winning,
particularly on a Sunday. Knowing which golfers perform well under pressure,
which golfers like which courses, and which weather conditions can give you
the edge over the bookies, who seem to base their prices on how popular
(or European) the golfers are. Perhaps they don’t care, as too many tipsters
and punters seem to want to back european golfers playing in the U.S. rather
than those most likely to win.

There is nothing more satisfying than watching an outright selection play well all week
and then bring home the money on a Sunday. But of course the main reason for betting on golf
is to make a profit. With a little discipline and careful selection steady profits can be made each year.
Betting on the final round has proven very lucrative over the years. Most weeks there is some value to be had, and profits can be made regularly and consistently. To win on the outright markets is more difficult,
and patience is required, but two or three good priced winners a year can yield hefty profits.
Another source of profit is backing 72 hole match bets. The bookies seem to price up the pairings
quite haphazardly sometimes and easy pickings can be made.

The main reason I bet on golf, is that I consistently make a profit, and get great enjoyment along the way.
You can too.

I will concentrate on advising bets on the final round of the golf, were there is value to be had.
I will also advise on 72 hole match bets and occasional bets for the outright market.
Anyone curious keep an eye out on progambler.co.uk.
My selections will start to appear in time for the open in July.
